Archive for weight loss

stuffing-your-faceThis is one of those things that pisses me off beyond belief.  I have many motivational type quotes that I use and have used over the course of my career, one being…”Fat People are Stupid and then they die!”. That quote breeds so much controversy and venom from fat people and now from idiotic fitness professionals…I think.

Let me begin by saying that I left a comment on a friend and colleague’s blog that asked for inspirational/motivational quotes.  I left a bunch of them including “Fat People are Stupid…then they die!” and someone decided (using initials not even their name) to respond to me in the comments section that “The amount of body fat a person possesses has nothing to do with their intelligence level”. Now whomever this person is should quit the fitness business if he/she is truly apart of this industry because anyone who condones fatness in this industry is themselves “Stupid”.

I don’t care if you are a member of MENSA, a Rocket Scientist, brain surgeon, heart surgeon, if you have the cure for cancer and you drop dead tomorrow at 40 years old or younger because of Obesity related issues…you are dumber than a box of rocks! You’ve wasted your life on gluttony and got what you deserve…Death by Stupidity.

SO you can Boo Hoo all you want and make all the lame excuses you want but the reality is that if you are fat and don’t do anything about it, want to bitch and complain, want everyone to accept you for what you are…then you are “Stupid” and should and will die of a heart attack or something worse.

Choose a Fitness and Weight Loss program you can live with …don’t try to live with the program.  What does that mean?

Try to fit your lifestyle into the program you are beginning and you will have greater potential for success.  I see too many people try to fit their lives into a Fitness and/or Weight Loss Program and more often then not it becomes to overwhelming.  Many so-called quick weight loss programs have you cooking and eating foods you have never heard of let alone have ever eaten.  Now I’m all for expanding your horizons but I don’t advise doing it on a new weight loss program.  Also, make your workouts easy to do or get to.  It wouldn’t be wise to join a gym that is on the other side of your universe.  Get a program you can do at home or outside near your home and you will find it’s easy to not find too many excuses.

It is always better to find a program that is flexible and will fit into your lifestyle.  It doesn’t make sense to change everything you do to try to lose weight and then once the weight is lost, you go back to the same routine that got you fat in the first place.

Take a gander at my latest video to help you choose a program you can live with.

To tell you the truth I’m almost sick of saying this…almost!..if you are fat you will die before your time. You will not live to be 80 or 90 if you are more than 30 lbs over fat…a heart attack or Cancer is in your not so distant future.

If you think that I am trying to use scare tactics…you’re absolutely right. I do want to scare the shit out of you! If premature death doesn’t scare you into getting your fat ass out of the chair and working out, then make sure your insurance is paid up and your plot is picked out.

If you have young children make sure your spouse will be able to take care of them when your dead. If they can’t …start looking for a good orphanage or foster home…maybe a relative.

If you die prematurely you are robbing the world around you of your experience. An experience that holds value in people’s eyes and hearts that you may not even know about. People love you and want you to live a long life…unless you’re a child molester and then I want you to burn in a car fire…but that’s another rant.

Setting and attaining your goals can be an overwhelming process especially if you have a bunch of weight to lose.  Although it can seem a little (to say the least) daunting, there are ways to relieve your stress of setting and attaining your weight loss goals.
1) Set one or two goals at time.  Once you have attained that goal set another and attain it.
2) Celebrate the small victories of those challenges
3) make certain that you take the weight off in small measurable chunks
4) Set realistic goals so that they will be attainable

To further help you with attaining your weight loss goals, I have sat down with my favorite registered dietitian Jayson Hunter to get his take on setting and attaining goals for 2009.

I’m not one to let grass grow under my feet.  So I wanted to help you in getting started eating right in 2009 and on your way to lose weight fast.
One of the bigger complaints or as I interpret it “excuses” to not being able to eat sensibly is the lack of availability of healthy foods during the work day.
Fast food is easier to eat and more readily available and sometimes tastier then what you could cook (in some instances ;-) ).
That really shouldn’t be the case.  With a little, and I mean little preparation you can cook or bring with you to work healthier snacks and foods.
In today’s Vlog post I show you how to get your prepared food from point “A” to point “B”.  This year it’s no more excuses. Now go watch my Vlog (video blog) and see what I have in store for you.
