		<description>Thanks for the demonstration.  I&#039;ve been trying to learn to do a real push up for some time now but can never get myself back up so either I don&#039;t go down very far or I do them on my knees.  I&#039;m sure this will help me get to doing real push ups much sooner. Thanks.</description>

Another trick I use to get them to quickly start doing numerous repetitions of real pushups is to do partial reps.

It&#039;s the same idea the power lifters use with the board press.

I stack a bunch of books and have the girl lower herself only partially until her chest touches the books. This way even if she cannot lower herself all the way down and press up, she will be able to lower herself lets say 5 inches.

Now, once the girl is able to do a real full range pushup, I still use the trick.

This time we start with full range pushups and once she cannot get any more, I start adding books below her chest. 

So it goes like this:

A few full pushups, then add a bunch of books, do a few more partial pushups, add a bunch of books, do a few more, etc.
