What Happens in Vegas…

Went to Vegas to watch the Miss USA telecast at Planet Hollywood. I can say I have now been to a bunch of Miss USA shows and if the truth be told these types of shows bore you to tears. I pretty much new that North Carolina had it from the beginning and California would take runner up. I’ve been watching these for over 10 years now and no matter how much the Miss Universe Organization changes up the judging criteria it still comes down to a “horse” race… The prettiest girl, that can walk with grace and can answer questions without sounding like an idiot…remember “The Iraq”.
This year we had some of that with Arizona answering a non-question but for the most part it went well. Really in my opinion the best part of the weekend are the parties before and after the Miss USA. It’s the perfect networking opportunity and you also get to see and speak to friends you haven’t seen in a little while. I love seeing Lee and Kim Greenwood. For anyone who has been living in a cave, Lee Greenwood had a huge hit with “God Bless the USA” and still tops the charts as the most patriotic song even over “God Bless America”. I don’t get to see Lee that much but it is always a great honor to call him my friend and see him when I can. I still get goosebumps when I listen to “God Bless the USA” and to know my friend sung that song. Here’s his 1985 performance at the Country Music Awards:

Kim Payne Greenwood
Lee’s wife Kim, is the Executive Director of Miss USA Tennessee and Georgia and looks as amazing as she did when she took the Miss USA stage in 1989 representing the great state of Tennessee. It’s always awesome to see that real beauty stays with you forever and Kim is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. I know it sounds so friggin’ cliche’ but she is.
It was so funny because I wanted to get a photo with them and just before I went over to talk to them my camera battery died when I was taking pictures with Donald Trump. So I’ll have to wait until I go visit them in Nashville to get a photo…but here is Kim in all her beauty and Lee singing “God Bless the USA”. Stop by tomorrow for some more shenanigans from my Vegas weekend.

Would you buy a Fitness Program from this Woman?

Fat people can not own fitness franchises! How friggin’ ridiculous is that?! I’m all for entrepreneurial spirit but if you put a fat person in front of a table that is for a fitness based franchise you will go broke.
I understand that the target market for Curves is fat low self esteem woman but at some point you have to show that you make progress. You can’t just have a bunch of fat women rolling around the gym floor for years on end. There needs to be hope that there is fit healthy body in sight. Curves should showcase fat people as their poster children but former fat people who actually became fit.
The women in the photo is well over 200 lbs…and I’m being as polite as I can. What the hell can she teach me about being fit and living a healthy lifestyle…shes not walking the walk. All she looks like shes doing is eating and not even stepping foot into the place shes promoting. Or maybe Curves has feeding troughs in the locker rooms for after you roll around like a happy little piglet.
As a fitness professional that advocates at least a simple sembelence of fit and healthy living I can’t imagine that any business plan would advocate placing a woman as big as a house in front of a fitness franchise… now don’t get me wrong I don’t think “Barbie” should be out in front either, having her breasts knocking you over. Fitness is all relative…but it is very apparent that there is no fitness here…only fat. So I guess the new tagline for Curves is: ” Where the Cows come to Play” or “Fit to Fat…we don’t care!” Either way this is just wrong! Tell me what you think.

An Agent for Change…Brian Grasso Interview Part -2
Posted by: | CommentsIn Part 2 of my interview with IYCA Founder Brian Grasso, he touches on how the seeds of the IYCA were planted. Brian discusses his own pain regarding being told he would never play football ever again and how that forced him to look at other opportunities…and how those opportunities blossomed into what is now the most respected “Youth Conditioning” organization on the planet.
I also give my own views of how people should be dealt with when they use the word “can’t”. I’m obviously not as soft spoken as my friend Brian Grasso but as he state’s “I get my point across”.
See why I personally think the fitness industry is the stupidest industry imaginable…next to the radio industry.

Pure Inspiration…an interview with IYCA Founder Brian Grasso

Unimposing as he stands discussing today’s condition of our world’s youth but a man with relevant purpose and bigger then life presence. Brian Grasso is not aggressive in his message as he is soft spoken and stands in a quiet demeanor listening more then he speaks. Each of his words are chosen to communicate his and the IYCA’s mission…to teach fitness professionals fundamentals in youth conditioning with an emphasis on injury prevention.
Every time I have the opportunity to stand next to Brian I am always impressed…and that’s coming from someone who isn’t impressed by anyone…having trained many of the top CEO’s and Celebrities. Not many people have done the research and spent countless hours creating and implementing the correct teaching applications as Brian Grasso. I know this probably sounds like I am paying tribute to a great man…as I believe I am. Like Ghandi, Brians path with be paved with greatness through his actions. I applaud him and ask that you help him become the agent of change I already know he is.
