Are you the Richest Man in town?
Posted by: | CommentsIf you know me you understand that I’m a huge fan of Mac Anderson. Mac was part of the reason the “Successories” line of motivational products was very popular. The posters he created would have one word like “Achievement” and a photo of a man climbing Mt. Everest. You can see these motivational pieces in many offices and fitness centers. Mac created a company called Simple Truths that produces inspirational books and short movies that can be bought or viewed on the web at www.simpletruths.com. I received an e-mail from Mac Anderson about a new movie he has produced called “The Richest Man in Town”. It’s based on an obscure book that I had read a couple of years back by an author named VJ Smith. The book is about a man named Marty who worked at Wal-Mart and treated everyone with kind words and respect.
Most of the time we go through life and don’t realize the impact we make on the world. As small as you may think your world is doesn’t matter, because someone in your small world has been impacted by your actions…good or bad. Take a moment to watch this movie and see how you’re impacting lives in your world.
You got the keys for Weight Loss… now shut up and drive!
Posted by: | CommentsNo this isn’t an advertisement for car insurance. I get inspiration from all kinds of places to write my askROCCO articles but I didn’t think Rhianna would get me going. Her song “Shut up and drive” somehow showed up on my iPOD Shuffle as I had my head phones on while I was writing another article. Normally I don’t really listen to the lyrics of most of the pop music because I think I was spoiled living through the seventies and listening to the great story telling in the music of that era…even though most of the music was about drugs and sex…it still told a great story. Low and behold I found myself listening to her and realized that everyone has the keys to their car so why don’t they “Shut up and drive”.
Instead of making excuses to why you can’t get yourself moving, “shut up and drive”. In other words just get moving. If you are fat don’t let yourself get confused by all the shit that’s out there to the point that you’re paralyzed. Now of course I would want you to choose one of my programs, like “The Winning Image” or “Lose 30 in Thirty” but that’s not what this article is about. Choose a program any program and stick with it. Consistency is what will bring you the results you are looking for not the actual program. If the program is based on solid strength training principles and High Intensity Interval Training you will be headed in the right direction. You’ve already got the keys…so shut up and drive.
Your body, a mechanical entity not unlike your car needs to be driven in order for it to run efficiently. If left to sit, it winds up rotting from the inside out and in the automotive world; becomes sick. The same thing happens to your body…when you sit around in a sedentary state you become fat and then become ill and start breaking down at every turn. It’s no fun being sick. I’d rather you have a better quality of live with health and happiness.
If you say you don’t have time…than die of a heart attack or download my “8 Minute Workout” for free and start getting the results you always wanted. Go to it now: http://askroccobootcamp.com
For your viewing pleasure Rhianna’s music video…Shut up and Drive.
No Excuses…Hardcore Training Methods of a Brazilian UFC Fighter
Posted by: | CommentsExcuses, excuses …excuses! That’s all I hear! I can’t afford a gym membership…it’s too hard to lose weight…my dog ate my workout…I can’t workout, I’m too fat (I actually heard that from someone). So I thought I’d post this video of a UFC Champion Fighter that is using a sledge hammer, a tire, a rusted barbell and three…yes count them, three men on his back to add resistance to his legs. I don’t see him making excuses about his workout. He’s just getting it done. What about you? Are you getting it done or are you making excuses?
Fitness Expert vs. Certified Trainer: What’s the Difference?
Posted by: | Comments Question: You call yourself a fitness expert. What is the difference between a fitness expert and a certified trainer?
-Tracy
Answer: The biggest difference between a real “fitness expert” and a trainer is the amount of time and purpose they have put into research and understanding their clients’ needs. Any certified trainer can throw a workout at you and tell you to do it, but without necessary experience with that client and their needs what the hell is that workout going to do. No one and I mean no one has time to play “trial and error” or “let’s see if this works”, especially if their looking for real results. So what I’m telling you is that a fitness expert has experience in working with the people they claim they can help.
Every person’s different and without a basic working knowledge of what works and what doesn’t you have no foundation on which to lay your bricks. Specific experience and a specialization is what an expert has. Many trainers out there try too hard to be everything to everyone. Just because you like what you do doesn’t mean you should be doing it. I have seen way too many trainers who love what they’re doing but have caused many an injury because they didn’t know what they were doing. You will find that trainers barely last 3 years in this business. Most don’t have the intelligence to know they are too stupid.
Here’s a clue…they’re not fooling anyone. In short, fitness experts are still learning and teaching…most trainers still need to learn.
